Hi, just letting you know that The Blackfriars Tavern have a cask of Old Chimneys Stout ABV 10% available on gravity now!

If you have never tried Good King Henry, then you should have at least heard of its reputation. Good King Henry is a multi-award winning imperial stout, usually in the 9% range and the bottled version, Good King Henry Special Reserve, has been England’s highest rated beer on rating website ratebeer.com for eight years. That is impressive.

Alan Thomson ‘officially’ retired from brewing and closed down Old Chimneys Brewery back in March, but has continued with brewing at Grain. Alan turned the volume up a bit to hit double figures, and the new Good King Henry is now at 10% alcohol by volume.

Volunteers serving at the Norwich Beer Festival were enthusiastically recommending that we try it.

Good King Henry lives on

Hi, just letting you know that The Blackfriars Tavern have a cask of Mr Winter’s Implosion available on gravity now!

“Try as you may you wouldn’t be able to resist this intensely flavoured, strong dark ale. Take in this powerfully rich and warm collision of chocolate, liquorice and sweet raisin goodness.”
