Food is available at the Blackfriars Tavern every day (12:15 first orders taken to 9pm last orders taken).
All day, every day we do homemade shortcrust individual pies and portions of chips
Friday’s as well as pies and chips we cook fish (cod and haddock for that traditional seaside meal)
Saturdays we have an extended Saturday Snacks menu with small plates which vary from week to week
Sundays we also have a specials menu usually containing two dishs and a vegan option
Homemade Pies
We make pies by hand using a traditional pie-press. The pies which are available vary, but typically there will be beef pie, a chicken curry pie and a very savoury vegan mushroom pie, and then from time to time there will be specials like Lamb pies and game pies and other more exotic fillings. All pies have shortcrust pastry.
Chips
We make our own chips using a closely guarded method to produce skin on, chunky chips with a superbly crispy outside with a delicate fluffy inside.
